TV set top box manufacturers will reveal today its full range
of high-quality digital home entertainment products for the
first time in the UK. The company has announced its intention
to produce first-to-market products combining Digital TV Receivers
with recordable Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and other home entertainment
devices. Humax will establish itself as a major consumer electronics
brand by building on its global leadership position in set
top box technology to develop differentiated products that
provide an even richer digital multimedia experience for the
consumer. The product range includes:
F2-1001T - Digital Terrestrial Set Top Box
The F2-1001T is designed to offer affordable access to free-to-air
digital TV and radio services. It offers automatic installation,
three-dimensional on-screen display, the Humax easy-to-use,
menu-driven interface and an EPG (Electronic Programme Guide).

Unit (provided with all Humax products).
F2-FOX T - Digital Terrestrial Set Top Box
The F2-FOX T is designed to bring the full benefits of digital
TV and radio within easy reach of analogue viewers. It offers
automatic installation, three-dimensional on-screen display,
the Humax easy-to-use, menu-driven, interface, an EPG, a range
of innovative features, four games, an MHEG-5 engine allowing
digital text and interactive services, high quality Dolby
Digital Audio output and comprehensive connectivity to ensure
the set top box functions at the heart of consumers' home
entertainment systems. New channels are added automatically
when available and it also offers a user-friendly over the
air software upgrade capability to ensure maximum product
life. Some of the features of the F2-FOX T are unique to Humax
such as picture freeze.
Connectivity: Every F2-FOX T includes
a SCART lead, to ensure the highest-quality TV picture. Two
SCART outputs allow the consumer to connect the STB to the
TV and VCR and/or DVD player simultaneously. In addition,
an RCA output provides an alternative TV connection and will
also connect to the hi-fi system for superior quality sound.
An optical audio output (SPDIF) is also available for outputting
a Dolby Digital stream
Favourite Groups: Up to five favourite
channel lists can be stored, to provide quick easy access
to preferred channels, particularly useful for family viewing
Programmer Timer: This unique feature
allows consumers to pre-programme the STB so that the VCR
can record up to 20 programmes from multiple channels without
manual intervention
Parental Control: Access to TV channels
can be denied without a password
Allow Watch Times: This feature
is useful for parents who wish to control their children·¯s
viewing, by denying access to digital channels at certain
times and viewing rate, unless a password is provided
The F2-FOX T will be on sale from October 2003.
DV-1000T - 2 in 1 combined Freeview digital receiver
and DVD player
The DV-1000T is one of the first combined digital receiver
and DVD players on the market. The slim, attractively-styled
combination box is designed to provide added-value both to
consumers looking for a high-specification DVD player and
home entertainment fans looking to benefit from access to
free-to-air channels. Its appeal lies in the space-saving
ability, allowing consumers to benefit from dual STB and DVD
functionality via a single SCART lead.
The DV-1000T offers the same automatic installation, user-friendly
Humax interface, innovative features, fast interactivity and
comprehensive connectivity as the F2-FOX T described above,
with a few extra features, such as optical digital audio output
for those who want to connect it to an AV receiver for high-quality
surround sound. The DVD player will support a wide range of
discs, including Audio CDs, VCDs, SVCDs, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW
and MP3. The DV-1000T will be on sale from October.
PVR-8000T - 2 in 1 DTT Personal Video Recorder
One of the first combined digital receivers with a recordable
Hard Disk Drive, the PVR-8000T is designed to replace the
VCR by allowing consumers to record TV programmes without
a video cassette while providing access to digital Freeview
television and radio channels. The major appeal of the PVR-8000T
lies in the one-off cost, with no subscription model, providing
a significant advantage over pay-television platforms. Like
the F2-FOX T and DV-1000T described above it offers automatic
installation, the user-friendly Humax interface, innovative
features, fast interactivity and comprehensive rear panel
connectivity to sit at the heart of digital home entertainment
systems.
The PVR makes it much easier to record programmes than a
VCR: consumers simply select the TV programme they want to
record from the Electronic Programme Guide, using the remote
control unit. Up to 20 hours programming can be stored on
the Hard Disk Drive. Broadcasts are recorded in their original
digital form, with no deterioration in picture or sound. Automatic
upgrades will ensure the product benefits from EPG enhancements
as they happen. In addition to all the functionality you would
expect from a VCR, the PVR-8000T allows viewers to pause live
TV for up to 30 minutes. The PVR-8000T will be on sale from
October.
PVR-9000T - 2 in 1 Twin tuner DTT Personal Video Recorder
The PVR-9000T combines all the functionality of the PVR-8000T
with two exciting innovations: a twin tuner allowing consumers
to watch one channel while recording another; and a detachable
80 GB (or 20 GB) Hard Disk Drive offering Time Shift and Picture
In Picture (PIP) functions. It boasts a single-stream scene
search function commonly found on DVD players as well as a
multi-stream mosaic screen function. Viewers can also create
their own digital albums by capturing still images from a
digital camera connected via the USB port. It will be launched
in Q1 2004.
DRP - 560 DVD Recorder
This superbly-styled DVD Recorder allows consumers to create
exceptional quality digital recordings from TV, video and
MP3 files, with an i.Link connection to record directly from
a digital camcorder. It offers easy access recording and editing
functions including: one touch recording, favourite scene
selection and an index picture screen for instant title access.
A choice of recording modes is available, from one hour high
quality recording up to six hours. It records on DVD+R and
DVD+RW discs and will play back multiple disc types. The DRP-560
DVD Recorder will be on sale in October.
