Setting up Receivers

Q.Dolby Digital (AC-3) bitstream Output (SPDIF)
A. Humax STB (limit to the model which has SPDIF terminal) supports the Stream Output function of Dolby Digital (Project name AC-3) which allows the customers to enjoy the 5.1 channel digital sound when the SPDIF terminal in Humax STB back panel is connected with an Amplifier embedded Dolby Digital decoder or appropriable decoder.
Humax STB supports only the Dolby Digital stream output and customers have to additionally buy the Dolby Digital decoder because that is not embedded in Humax STB. Even though customers have all equipment, it is not possible to receive the Dolby Digital in a way of 5.1 Channel when the channel (service) you watching is not providing Dolby encoding audio.

1. Connect the SPDIF cable and SPDIF output terminal in the back of the Box.
2. When the Box receives the Dolby Digital encoding broadcasting, the Dolby icon will be displayed at right upper side on the screen and gone a few seconds later but the icon will be maintained in i plate as long as you watch the channel.
3. 'Menu' in Set-top box menu asystem setting a set the switch to 'On' in 'Dolby Digital ON/OFF' menu.

When 'Dolby Digital ON/OFF' switch is 'On',
1) The Audio Output of SCART or RF RCA is disabled
2) The Volume key is not under control
3) The Soundtrack Left/Right key is not operating.

Q. There is no power when I switch on my receiver.
A. Check that the power lead is plugged in at the mains and switched on and check that it is connected to the back of the receiver. Ensure that the power switch is on at the back of the receiver. Check the fuse if applicable.

Q. I cannot get a picture on my TV from my receiver.
A. If you are using SCART, ensure it is connected to your receiver and also to your TV. Ensure that you are using the correct Audio/Video input channel on your TV. If you are using an RF lead, ensure it is connected to your receiver and your TV. Ensure that you have tuned your TV correctly.

Q. I can receive a good picture but no sound.
A. Check the audio mute controls on both receiver and TV. Check the volume controls on both receiver and TV. If your Humax is connected to your TV via RF lead then ensure that you have selected the correct PAL Setting for your region in the 'UHF Tuning' menu.

Q. The remote control unit does not function.
A. Replace the batteries. Point the remote control unit towards the receiver.

Channel Searching & Saving

Q. Can I search Astra and Hotbird automatically?
A. Yes. You will require a DiSEqC 1.0 switch with antennas for Astra and Hotbird connected to it. Set the antenna settings to DiSEqC A and B for Astra and Hotbird and then use the 'LNB for Astra and Hotbird' option in the 'Automatic Searching' menu.

Q. Can I use Automaic Search for other satellites?

A. Yes, If you have OAK model, you can use the Automatic search for other satellites. But F1/F1-CI/F1-VA/F1-VACI can search only Astra and Hotbird.

Q. How do I search for a bouquet manually?
A. Go to the Channel Search menu and select Channel Search or Manual Search. Select the antenna setting you want to use and enter the Frequency, Polorisation, Symbol Rate and FEC of the bouquet that you require and press OK on the remote control unit. The search will now start.

Q. I keep getting the message "No Signal" when I try a manual search.

A. If the channel has a low Symbol Rate, then it will be harder to find due to the weaker signal. Try using Advance Search and entering in the Video and Audio PID values. Try changing the Frequency slightly. Also check that your dish is aligned correctly.

Q. How can I get the information about satellite worldwide including frequency?

A. You can find this information in many websites on the internet. for example, www.satcodx.com www.lyngsat.com www.sat4all.com or you can find these channel listings in various satellite publications.

A. Maximum 4000 channels can be store on the OAK Model receivers. and 1000 channels for Superset and Non-superset

Q. I cannot store anymore channels even though I have not reached the maximum number of channels.
A.For OAKs
It is most likely that you have reached the maximum bouquet limit of 500. Check whether you have already stored 500 bouquets, if this is the case, then you will have to delete some bouquets in order to store more channels

For F1 / F1-CI / F1-VA / F1-VACI It is most likely that you have reached the maximum bouquet limit of 200. Check whether you have already stored 200 bouquets, if this is the case, then you will have to delete some bouquets in order to store more channels.

A. The latest softwares can be downloaded from our website or HCSA. Software for the F1-VA and F1-VACI is only available on HCSA.

Q. What is System ID and IRD-to-IRD function?
A. Humax STB can be divided by model name and there can be several System ID in one model. System ID is the standard of dividing Hardware attribute and there isn't compatibility between two models if the system ID is different even they are same model.
It is possible to check the system ID of STB in "STB Status" Menu, There are four digits in the left side and four or five digits in the right by the dot in the middle.

ex) 0032.0400

These, therefore, all 8 digits are same means that hardware attribute and model are all same which can make the compatibility of two models. For example, there are four different System ID in the IRCI5400 model and these independent Hardware use different software to each model. IRD to IRD downloading is possible only between STB with same system ID. For the software download, use the software which has the same system ID with your STB, otherwise download error will happen. In other words, all download operation will check the System ID therefore if the system ID is different, it is impossible to be compatible regarding the download.
