- Operating Income
upped 236 percent in the first half : July
2, 2001
HUMAX's first half operating income totaled 40.3 billion
won, up 236 percent, with its ordinary income reaching
45.6 billion won, up 165 percent, and sales up 93
percent at 110.3 billion won from a year ago.
Operating income margin stood at 36.5 percent, with
its gross profit margin at 43.9 percent. The operating
income margin was attributed to the sales growing
of high value added STBs(embedded conditional access
system).
The impressive earnings performance was a result of
the fast growing overseas markets for set-top boxes.
- The first-quarter
net profit tops W20.6 bil($15.4million) : Apr 10,
2001
HUMAX topped 20.6 billion won ($15.4 million) in net
profits in the first quarter, ending March 31, up
182 percent from 7.2 billion won a year earlier. The
net profit represented a slight increase from analyst
estimates, as the steep depreciation of the won against
the dollar in recent months strengthened Humax's price
competitiveness.
January-March sales totaled 55.6 billion won ($41.6
million), up 116 percent from 25.7 billion won in
the first quarter of 2000. Its sales in March alone
amounted to over 20 billion won. Production rates
were also up, with Humax turning out double that of
the same period last year.
First quarter operating profits also shot up to 19.9
billion won, up from 3.8 billion won during the same
period last year.
Surging sales were partly attributed to a shift in
strategy from low-margin free-to-air (FTA) models
to a high value added conditional access system (CAS).
The ratio of operating profit to net sales, a measure
for business operation efficiency, topped 35.83 percent
in the first quarter, up from 26 percent the previous
quarter.
